Campbell Cowie is currently Executive Director for Public Policy at AOL Time Warner and, in 2008, he has also been appointed Policy Director at Ofcom. Campbell joined AOL Time Warner from the BBC, where he was Head of Fair Trading & Economic Regulation. Prior to taking on the role at the BBC, Campbell worked as an economic consultant, specialising in complex competition policy cases involving media and telecommunications companies, both in Europe and America. He began his career as an academic, with posts at Brunel University, the Regulatory Policy Institute, Oxford, and the London Business School. During this time, Campbell published a number of articles on regulatory issues encompassing both the introduction of digital television and the broader convergence of the communications industries. Campbell has maintained an interest in academia, continuing to lecture on competition policy at City University, London, on a visiting basis.
