Nicola Simpson is a doctoral student in the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in media trade policy, globalization, and audience analysis. She has a BA in Film and MA in History from the University of Alberta in Canada, and has held full-time research and teaching positions in film/media studies, sociology, marketing, business economics, and law. In 2004 she worked for UNESCO’s Communication and Information sector (Paris) and the Programme for Comparative Media Law and Policy (Oxford). Her publications have appeared in the International Journal of Media Management, Mass Communication & Society, Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television, Canadian Journal of Communication, and the Encyclopedia of Globalization.
